With the proper preventive care, it is possible to keep your original teeth throughout the course of your life.

At Davis Dental Care, we focus on prevention because it is the best way to support excellent dental health.

Comprehensive Dental Exams

At your dental appointment, Dr. Hans Smith will visually examine each tooth, your gum tissue, and your bite. If he sees anything that requires your attention, he will discuss it with you along with your treatment options.

A dental exam is your opportunity to ask Dr. Smith any questions you may have about your oral health in addition to discussing any cosmetic changes you would like to make to the appearance of your smile. We are always happy to answer your questions!

We periodically update your medical history, and you should always let us know of any changes to your medication or medical conditions.

Dr. Bickel will also review any digital x-rays during or after your exam.

Professional Dental Cleanings

Layton UT Preventive Dentistry | Davis Dental CareEven with the best brushing and flossing habits, it is impossible for you to remove all traces of plaque and tartar from your teeth. A professional dental cleaning is essential to removing tartar and bacteria to keep your teeth and gums healthy. We tailor your dental cleanings to meet your needs and always provide gentle care.

At your dental cleaning appointment, we may discuss ways to improve your home care to keep your smile looking and feeling great!

Fluoride Treatments

When you think of fluoride treatments, you probably think of children’s dentistry. While it is true that kids can benefit from fluoride, adults can, too – especially as they age or experience sensitivity.

Fluoride strengthens enamel and helps protect teeth from dental decay, one of the most common diseases in America. Over 95 percent of people will need a dental filling at some point during their lives, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We can discuss whether this treatment can benefit you and help protect your smile.

Protective Dental Sealants

Dental sealants create a barrier between the deep grooves of your teeth and the decay-causing foods that we eat. Children often have especially deep grooves in their teeth and are the ones who benefit most from this type of preventive dentistry.

Dr. Smith will apply a layer of dental sealant, similar to tooth-colored filling material. This helps to fill in the deep grooves of your teeth, where decay-causing bacteria are most likely to collect. Dental sealants are noninvasive, cost effective, and long lasting. They can also be replaced periodically, if necessary.
