Orthodontics in Layton, UT
A smile is your opportunity to make a great first impression!
Your smile is one of your most expressive features. You can show happiness, warmth, and friendship with a beautiful smile.
If your teeth are misaligned or crooked, you may hold back from truly expressing yourself because you feel self-conscious about your teeth. At Davis Dental Care, we want you to feel great about the way you look! Dr. Hans Smith proudly offers orthodontic services in our Layton, Utah dental office.
Problems with Misaligned Teeth
A crooked smile often affects more than just your appearance. Misaligned teeth also create some oral health challenges. Overlapping or crowded teeth are more susceptible to decay and periodontal (gum) disease because they are difficult to keep clean and often tilt at varying angles. If you do require a restoration such as a filling or crown, placing them on misaligned teeth is not usually ideal.
Your jaw muscles, teeth, and joints are a complex system. Crooked teeth can cause your bite to come together incorrectly, creating excessive wear, muscle soreness, and joint problems. Poor bite alignment can also cause headaches and facial soreness.
We can correct the alignment of your teeth, giving you a beautiful and comfortable smile with our orthodontic treatment options.
Traditional orthodontics works by using brackets, either metal or tooth-colored, and wires to gradually move your teeth. This method is a tried-and-true way to achieve great results, even in complex cases.
Dr. Hans Smith will create a treatment plan that addresses the alignment of your teeth and attach brackets to your involved teeth. For some patients, this might include all of your teeth while in other cases, it might just be a few. Next, he will attach a wire to the brackets. Dr. Smith will periodically adjust this wire to guide your teeth into their ideal location.
How long your treatment takes will depend on how far your teeth need to move, how many teeth are involved, and your goals for your oral health and appearance. Dr. Smith can discuss treatment times with you after an initial evaluation.
We always strive for a comprehensive outcome that addresses your appearance and ensures proper function!
For some patients, the idea of brackets and wires is just not appealing. For patients who would like more discreet orthodontic treatment, we offer ClearCorrect. Like Invisalign, ClearCorrect uses a series of clear aligner trays to gradually move your teeth.
Since ClearCorrect aligners are removable, keeping your teeth clean is easy. You can remove your clear braces to brush, floss, eat, and drink hot liquids. We recommend that you wear them for 22 hours per day to stay on track with your treatment.
ClearCorrect works great for patients wanting to improve the appearance of their smiles or for patients who have basic orthodontic needs. An initial orthodontic exam with Dr. Smith will help us determine if ClearCorrect is a good option for you.
To keep your new smile looking and feeling great, you need to wear an orthodontic retainer. Failure to wear a retainer will cause your teeth to drift out of alignment. We will create a retainer for you once your treatment is complete so you can protect your new smile and enjoy it for a lifetime!
